How the Game Plays

Three Card Rummy by Platipus is a fast-paced card game where the objective is counter-intuitive to most poker variants: the goal is to have a lower point total than the dealer. Played with a standard 52-card deck, each round begins with an Ante bet. Both the player and the dealer are dealt three cards. While the player's cards are visible, the dealer's remain face-down until the player decides whether to Fold or Raise.

Winning combinations are determined by the face value of the cards, but with a unique scoring twist. Aces are always low, counting as one point, while numbered cards are worth their face value and face cards are worth ten. However, forming specific card combinations like pairs, triples, or suited runs of two or more cards reduces those cards' values to zero. This "less is more" mechanic makes zero the best possible score.

Bonus Bet & Dealer Qualification

To win the main hand, the dealer must first "qualify" by having a score of 20 or fewer. If the dealer does not qualify, the player's Ante is paid out and the Raise is returned. If the dealer qualifies and the player has the lower score, the player wins. An optional Bonus Bet is also available, which pays out independently of the dealer's hand based solely on the player's total score. In this mode, reaching a total of 12 points or fewer triggers a payout, rewarding players who manage to secure low-value or zero-point hands through strategic matching.
