Big Bash League Overview

The Big Bash League is currently in its off-season, with the sixteenth edition of the tournament scheduled to begin on December 12, 2026. Following their victory in the 2025/26 campaign, the Perth Scorchers enter the new season as the defending champions and the most successful franchise in the competition's history. Clubs are currently finalising their squads as anticipation builds for a historic opening match set to take place in Chennai.

Title Race

The Perth Scorchers head into the 2026/27 season as the team to beat after securing their record-extending sixth title. While the competition remains in the pre-season phase, the Hobart Hurricanes are among the sides looking to bridge the gap to the champions. With the tournament structure retaining its familiar four-team playoffs, every franchise is recalibrating its roster to challenge for the title when the action gets underway.

Fixtures in Focus

The highly anticipated opening fixture is scheduled for December 12, 2026, featuring the Melbourne Renegades against the Perth Scorchers in what will be the first-ever Big Bash League match played outside of Australia.

Down the Table

Other franchises are busy finalising their rosters for the upcoming campaign, with teams such as the Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers working to improve their standing after finishing outside the title-contention spots in the previous season.
